My interest in Archery came at a very young age. By 7 years old, I had my first bow
and shot in the back yard with my father who taught me all about the sport and
has been with me for much of my bow hunting career. In Michigan, at age 12 we
are able to harvest our first animal with a bow, so on the 31st Day of October,
when most kids were trick or treating or at parties, I was in the woods and had
harvested my first buck -- a  1 ½ year old 8 point.

Later in life I traveled to Colorado and at 14 years old I harvested my first Bull Elk
-- the youngest Non Resident hunter to accomplish that feat. Since then, I've
traveled to Colorado every year since 1994 in pursuit of large Mule Deer and Elk
with bow in hand.  In the year 2000 I harvested a 341” Pope and Young Bull Elk
with my bow.

I first started videotaping my hunts when I was 16. Buddies from school and I
would take turns filming each other on our hunts and we would air them on our
school ‘s morning news during the hunting season. In fact, because we live in such
a hunting oriented community, our schools are closed on opening day! Working in
an editing class in high school really triggered my love for hunting on camera even
more and I loved sharing my experiences as a hunter with everyone. Actually, I
loved it so much that when I graduated, I jumped at the opportunity to teach the
class since the teacher was retiring.

I have a wife Sarah, whom I am teaching to share my love of the outdoor life.
While she didn’t quite grow up in it like I did,  she is really starting to share my
passion for the woods and it’s something we can use to grow with as a couple. In
fact, we just celebrated our first year anniversary on September 6th, 2009 and I
bought her a brand new Browning .308... so we’ll see how well that goes!  One
day we hope to have kids and I can’t wait to experience the joy that I had with my
Dad and showing my kids the very same respect and love for the outdoors. Best of
all, hopefully one day I’ll be behind the camera for them on their first big hunt!
