As a young boy growing up in the country with not many close neighbors, my love
and taught me how to properly use it, this was the beginning of the end for me.  I
wreaked havoc on the birds in the yard the next couple of years before I was old
enough to start rabbit and squirrel hunting on my own in the creek bottoms
around home.

At the age of 8 my father began taking me hunting just about every time he went.
While he would bow hunt he would drop me off at the double white oaks in the
field on the way to his deer stand.  Some of my earliest memories of deer hunting
are still etched in my mind from those two big old oak trees in that CRP field.

At the age of 11 I began my quest in search of whitetails.  My first deer was a big
doe that about ran over the top of me and I shot a hole through her ear before
making a kill shot on her while she was running away.  Over the next few years my
father went into detail explaining to me why we were hunting like we were in
every situation.  It was this detail that taught me how to hunt food sources and
certain weather conditions.

At the age of 17 I killed my first P&Y whitetail with my bow and the disease really
took a turn for the worse.  Over  the next several years I harvested 3 more P&Y
whitetails with my bow.

At the age of 23 I killed a 163” 12 pointer that turned me from a buck hunter into a
true trophy hunter.  Since that date I have killed several more deer scoring over
150”.

In 2007 my good friend Mike Russell asked if I would be interested in video taping
deer hunts, and having the desire to take my passion to another level I agreed
that I would.  The next season Mike purchased a video camera and we began
filming our deer and turkey hunts.  We soon experienced the challenge of
harvesting whitetails and turkeys on film, and are now full steam ahead laying
down footage.

My wife Christy and my children, Taylor, Tyler, and T.J. are very supportive and
have become very involved in my hunting and checking trail cameras.  My 7 year
old daughter Taylor has taken her first step and harvested a doe this year during
the youth gun season.  I can’t wait for my sons to get old enough to go along too.
