Pre-Rut - Recreating Lifelike Rattling & Grunts
This is the time when your rattling and grunt calling
skills really shine. Practice recreating lifelike
rattling sequences and grunts. Remember, bucks are just
starting to tap horns at this point, so don't get too
carried away with creating an all out brawl. Rattle
lightly and keep your grunts to a minimum.

Also, keep in mind that if the deer has responded to your
rattling and is now approaching your stand, lay off the
calls since he'll be wondering why he hears you, but
doesn't SEE you!! This will only make your deer skiddish
and suspicious.

Finally, be careful of your movement when blind calling.
You never know when that deer your calling in from the
distance makes his way in and spots your movement way
before you spot him. Try rattling between your legs and
use small, undetectable movements without moving the rest
of your body.

Have a great season!

Good Luck,
